To Compete or Not to Compete

My daughter started gymnastics about a month ago. I went in completely blind. We started at the basic level. Her teacher informed me yesterday that she feels that she is ready to move up. I smiled. She told me to move her up to Pre-Team.

This is happening so fast. Pre-Team is competitive. I'm not sure if I am ready to have her do this. I would love any input.

More money?

Are you ready for the commitment?
is she?

no answers, its all about what you as a family can do...no right or wrong answers (at least I don't think so) but it could (and I'm only doing the negatives as something to think about) less family time; less family vacations; more traveling; hotels; and car pools...
My aunt and uncle did it for years with two girls in soccer, they went a lot of cool places but didn't do family vacations - it was their vacation --- but they went nice places.

Again, there are many many positives but you probably already know them ... the confidence building, team building, the relationships she will build, the skill set, the keeping out of trouble aspect, the unbelievable amount of self respect and esteem she will gain in herself and others. That education is priceless (especially if you like the coach and the team members).

But its all about what you want as a family.
