Spending the weekend digging out from the recent snowfall.

What I've Been Up To

Just off the top of my head some things that I have been up to. 1. Fifth grade recycling project. 2. Borough Days Project (grade 3 project)-entails making a poster to be elected for mayor & writing a speech to be elected as mayor. 3. Junior Achievement. 4. Job Interview-waiting to hear when my second interview will be. 5. Preparing for the closing on our house-this will occur May 10, 2010. 6. The daily adventures in babysitting my aging mother. Every day seems to be the same thing but different. I can't even begin to explain. 7. The everyday mundane house wife responsibilities. 8. Preparing the current house for sale. 9. Third grade field trip tomorrow.

Kentucky Derby 2010

I have never been interested in horse races. That changed last year when my husband turned the pre-events leading up to the derby. I'm not sure if I got sucked into the hype or a fascination with over all training leading up to the event. Last year we bet on Pioneer of the Nile & Dunkirk. But it was the jockey, Calvin Borel, who lead Mine That Bird to a victory. I had a gut feeling that we should have bet on him. Why I didn't go with my gut, I'm not sure. This year I'm not sure who to bet on. Calvin is racing Super Saver this year. Can he do it again? If you have any input let me know. Do you place your bets on luck or stats? I would love to hear from you.

How We Met

Image
Have I ever told you how I met my husband? We met through the single ads in the newspaper. Guess what! I didn't place the ad. Turns out my mother placed it without my knowledge. We met for lunch on Saturday afternoon, dated for over two years, got engaged in Waikiki & it's been a wild ride ever since.

Feel Good Moment

I had the opportunity of a life time. For three consecutive years in a row, I worked as the school nurse at the school my children attend. It started out just as a substitute position until the regular school nurse returned from a back injury. Turned out that I spent three years as the full time school nurse. I always hoped that I could have a positive impact on just one child. Well that hope became reality. Yesterday, I was approached by a mother & girl scout leader. She informed my that the fifth grade girls wanted me to talk to them about the sensitive topic of puberty. The girls approached her with the request. Unfortunately do to time restraints & busy schedules, I was unable to do this for these girls. This is a moment that live on in my heart & mind forever.

Great Walk Gone Bad

Image
Yesterday I dropped off my mom at physical therapy & had about an hour to kill. The sun was shining & the sky was blue & what clouds that existed were white (not the gray that we have gooten use to). I decided I was going to take a walk along the trail in the area. I have lived in the area for years & never had the time to explore the trail, so what better time than today. So off I went on the trail. I enjoyed the cool sunny walk with the view of the river over my shoulder. My stress started to leave for some time. I came to the end of the gravel trail & had to take the sidewalk to get to the destination I had in mind. However, the plans changed as I started on the sidewalk. I glanced down & began to notice something on the sidewalk & walked around it. I continued, & began to see more of this "something". As I walked around this "something" I noticed more & more. At this point I became sick & turned around. The entire sidewalk...

A Childhood Dream Comes True

When I was about my daughter's age, I went to Magic Kingdom for my first time. We spent only spent one day at Magic Kingdom & I do mean a day. I remember asking to stay & watch the parade & fireworks but the answer was "another time". I left some what disappointed. When we went this year, I told my husband "I have only one request on this trip & that is we see the night parade & fireworks." What a nice little surprise to see Tinkerbell come down from the castle.

Preparing For Vacation

Image
Schools out , or in our case just about out. That only means one thing in our family, beach trip. In the past have gone to Ocean City but the excitement wore off & the crowd tends to be high school & college students. Too wild for a family trip so we now head to Myrtle Beach. We love it. I recommend to friends to stay at the Breakers ( http://www.breakers.com/ ). They have several pools & a lazy river & pool side service (the ones that all adults love). This year we are heading to Disney for our vacation but hope to get a great deal at some point to return to Myrtle for a long weekend. The preparation for any beach trip can be crazy. I am constantly making a list of what we need to pack. So here is a list for you to use as a guide to prepare for your next beach trip. Vacation List: Medication Facial soap Razor Soap Shaving cream Shampoo Conditioner Brush & comb Deodorant Mousse Curling Iron Facial creams Make up Tooth brush Tooth paste Tweezers Contact lenses case ...

To Compete or Not to Compete

My daughter started gymnastics about a month ago. I went in completely blind. We started at the basic level. Her teacher informed me yesterday that she feels that she is ready to move up. I smiled. She told me to move her up to Pre-Team. This is happening so fast. Pre-Team is competitive. I'm not sure if I am ready to have her do this. I would love any input.
